Naomi Bateren Therapy
Couples, Individual and EMDR Therapy in Liverpool and Online
I offer Couples Therapy in Liverpool and online for partners who feel stuck in conflict, disconnected, or changed by a life transition. You might seem fine but the energy to keep things together is exhausting and you feel depleted.
You get trapped having the same argument and feel unable to change or understand your partner. Your relationship is stressful or strained and it seems harder work to resolve and battle through than just ignoring or walking away. You numb, avoid or over function but these no longer bring relief.
I also offer Individual Therapy and EMDR therapy to navigate relationship difficulties, trauma, loss, identity shifts, and the emotional impact of change. Life events have changed you and you're not sure who you are or what you want anymore; life feels like constant effort, constant self-protection, and very little relief.
As an HCPC registered psychotherapist, I help to slow things down so you can stop just coping and start feeling more like the person you used to trust yourself to be.
With nearly a decade of experience across the NHS, charitable sector and private practice, I gently help you understand yourself and name your needs, to build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I offer uniquely tailored sessions - online across the UK and internationally, or face-to-face in Liverpool.
Get in touch and we can start this journey together.

What do you do?
I work with individuals and couples using an integrative approach of Dramatherapy (MA), Systemic Family Practice (PGDip) and EMDR Trauma therapy.
How does therapy work?
Talking - asking questions, getting to know and understand you.
Using creative tools to access memories or feelings that are hard to name or explore.
Online - using the same approaches, via Bilateral base or Google meet.
Where do you work?
Online - for couples or individuals (including EMDR) from around the world and UK.
In person - in South Liverpool - The Changing rooms, L18 8BX.
Why Naomi Bateren Therapy?
I have years of experience in the NHS and the charitable sector as a Systemic Family Practitioner (with couples and families) and Dramatherapist (with young people and families). I build strong, trusting relationships where you can feel safe to explore anything, feel heard and understood, and experience change. I am HCPC registered and have regular supervision and CPD.
Seeking Support
Seeking support is courageous and can feel overwhelming. I try to make it as comfortable as possible. Here are the steps to take and what to expect:
1.
Initial free call - ask questions, see if you trust me, explore logistics and I can signpost you on if we aren't a fit
2.
Book a first paid session - deeper assessment and goal setting, make a flexible plan for number of sessions.
3.
Work together weekly or fortnightly, consistently check in on whether therapy remains useful, end at any point.
Couples Therapy
You may be dealing with conflict, communication breakdown, life transitions, betrayal, new parenthood, or feeling disconnected. We create a space to talk differently to better understand each other and the problem - and feel closer.

Therapy with Families
One family member's struggle is affecting the family - and the family has a role in the dynamic. We can include multiple family members to build better understanding, improve communication and deepen relationships.
